Free Vintage Crochet Pattern Website

Upon googling 1940's crochet slipper patterns I found this amazing website dedicated to Free Vintage Crochet patterns! Its amazing! I want to crochet everything I have seen available on the site so far! I started crocheting the top photo set of slippers last night and I can't wait to wear them to the World War 2 reenactment I am attending in January. The event is an immersion event so we stay in period dress the whole weekend. So even in the barracks we get to wear period stuff like slippers. :) So I am making myself a pair asap. Are any of you crocheting or knitting anything fun for the season of cold weather, which is upon us?

November is fleeting

Hey ya'll! Yes side pony tails are totally in style again! not! haha :) Yeah so that is how I wear my hair when I go to bed, I thought it was too 90's to not share. :) Yes I am a 90's child.

My boys!I  love them.

The thanksgiving feast with friends was too much fun and we were so blessed to spend it with fellow believers in Christ despite not having a church home right now.

The whole group after we stuffed ourselves, no I guess I should say ate our fill. :) We sang hymns to the Lord, played a fun game, and had great conversation. It was a lovely evening and afternoon.

Happy thanksgiving late ya'll and don't forget God is good in abundance and plenty and in times of hardship as well. Praise God for His steadfast faithfulness to us.

God bless,
Rebecca

Thrift Haul and Etsy Haul

I thought I would share some items I found recently over the weekend and received in the mail last week. Enjoy! You can see Geekiana's etsy shop here. The vintage slip I will be using a lot especially for World War 2 reenacting and under longer dresses/skirts. It is nylon so thats perfect for vintage accurate fashion. I also bought a dozen records. So check them out in my video! I can't wait to play the records on a record player someday.

God bless!

He knows the future

photo source

I saw this on facebook today and just had to share. Praise the Lord He knows the plans he has for us even when we don't! I have exams coming up December 7th, we are church hunting again, Thanksgiving is gone and Christmas is approaching. Sometimes I just want to sit down and cry my eyes out or fret about the future, but I know God has it under control and I need not worry. Ladies comment below how the Lord is keeping you sane amidst the chaos! He is keeping me sane because of His WORD and friends and family pointing me to Him.

God bless!

Freedom for Birth

Everyone needs to watch this!!!! I saw this movie with my sister about a month ago when it came out and it was by far one of the best I have ever seen in a long time about a social and political issue. Please take the time to watch the video and then act. We need freedom for birth, if we don't have that freedom that means we are losing our freedom.

God bless!

Comfy Camping Shirt meets LOTR

Hi Ya'll! I hope your Sunday is restful and giving you much needed rest and contemplation. Here is my outfit I wore Thursday when I went to a documentary with my sister and a friend about birth. It is called Birth Story and its about Ina May and her life as a midwife. We also went on a walk in a nearby park and took some photos.

The LOTR photo, I think the skirt in this photo looks like something Arwen or Eowyn's skirts would do in the movie.

All of the items except my boots are thrifted recently. I found the skirt Wednesday and the plaid shirt a few weeks ago with a friend. Thanks Stephanie for spotting the top! You have good eyes. :) I found the belt at Goodwill as well.

God bless!

Updated Hair Washing Routine

Hi All! I forgot to post this new hair routine video to my blog after filming it. I hope its helpful to all the curly girls out there. I always condition my hair after I wash it and I use conditioner as leave in conditioner/moose. I find the conditioner does a better job than moose or leave-in conditioner for me personally. You can find my Giovanni brand conditioner here and my psoriasis home health shampoo here.

Just for fun here is the character from the Adams Family I thought I looked like when I flipped my hair forward. lol :)

God bless and comment below if you have questions or remarks!

River Song Inspired OOTD

Hi Ya'll! I know this post is long over due considering the blog party is over, but I wantd to do the River Song inspired photo shoot anyway. My Dad was so kind in teaching me gun safety and all before doing the shoot. So all you people out there thinking she has a gun, scary, I do know how to use it and I understand how to be safe while carrying the weapon. :) It was not loaded in these pictures.

The em famous black dress is vintage from Amalagated Vintage and Dry goods in Alexandria, VA. It is a beautiful 1960's cocktail dress and I think it looks a lot like something River might wear. The red beaded necklace was bought at the same time as well from the same store. My shoes are from the thrift store and they are dance shoes. My grey shrug was thrifted from a little charity shop in my town

The gun I am carrying is my Dads 45. Definitely comment if you want to know more and I will be sure to ask my dad is I don't know the answer to your questions about the gun. After this photo shoot my dad is convinced I need to go to the shooting range with him. I think so too considering weapon safety and being able to protect ones self in self defense is so important. :)

Black cocktail dress- amalagated vintage and dry goods
grey shrug- thrifted
black dance shoes- thrifted
red beaded necklace- amalagated vintage and dry goods
hair combs- k-mart brand goody
foe diamond earrings- gift from my Grandma

Do any of you go shooting at all or have a gun or does your dad or hubby have a gun?

 The dress I thought my dress could be inspired by above. I still got the red in there in my necklace instead of shoes since I have no red shoes. :)

 The idea for a photo shoot with a gun came from the picture above. I thought it would be definitely a River inspired OOTD post with a gun in there.

I big applause of thanks to my Dad for taking the photos and letting me use his gun and a big thanks to Amagamated Vintage and Dry Goods for the great dress and necklace!
God bless everyone!

Listen for His Still Small Voice

I am loving this youtube channel called Scripture lullabies, but remember to subscribe to their new channel too called called ClothedbyGrace. I have been so blessed by their Scripture filled songs. I thought you all would too!

I think this song echos Psalm 37 very well too, which I have been trying to etch on my heart lately.

"Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
be not envious of wrongdoers!
For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
Trust in the LORD, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!
Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.
For the evildoers shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.
In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.
But the meek shall inherit the land
and delight themselves in abundant peace.
The wicked plots against the righteous
and gnashes his teeth at him,
but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he sees that his day is coming.
The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose way is upright;
their sword shall enter their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.
Better is the little that the righteous has
than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The LORD knows the days of the blameless,
and their heritage will remain forever;
they are not put to shame in evil times;
in the days of famine they have abundance.
But the wicked will perish;
the enemies of the LORD are like the glory of the pastures;
they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
but the righteous is generous and gives;
for those blessed by the LORD shall inherit the land,
but those cursed by him shall be cut off.
The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
when he delights in his way;
though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,
for the LORD upholds his hand.
I have been young, and now am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
or his children begging for bread.
He is ever lending generously,
and his children become a blessing.
Turn away from evil and do good;
so shall you dwell forever.
For the LORD loves justice;
he will not forsake his saints.
They are preserved forever,
but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
The righteous shall inherit the land
and dwell upon it forever.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks justice.
The law of his God is in his heart;
his steps do not slip.
The wicked watches for the righteous
and seeks to put him to death.
The LORD will not abandon him to his power
or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial.
Wait for the LORD and keep his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land;
you will look on when the wicked are cut off.
I have seen a wicked, ruthless man,
spreading himself like a green laurel tree.
But he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
though I sought him, he could not be found.
Mark the blameless and behold the upright,
for there is a future for the man of peace.
But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;
the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD;
he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
The LORD helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him."
(Psalm 37 ESV)

Help me O Lord God to listen to your voice! No matter how many distractions surround, may you surround my thoughts even more!

Praise the Lord!

Collective Thrift Haul

Hello readers!

I hope today finds you well and ready to fight the good fight. Yes I know Obama is still our President and I am ok with that. As a friend of mine told me yesterday, " God voted for Obama." Obviously God wanted him to be President to do a work in His people in this nation. So I have peace now even though what happened is not what I would have planned, God knows best. He has a perfect plan for our good and His glory ultimately.

Anyways, on with the haul. ;) I have put together a haul of thrifted items I have gotten in September, October, and this month of November. Enjoy and comment and tell me what you have thrifted lately and if you liked the video.

God bless!

Vintage Style Weekend Part 2

Hi Ya'll!

My family and I recently went to Pennsylvania to the Strasburg Railroad and Train Museum. We had a grand time riding the train and walking through the museum. It also happened to be the same day as thier annual World War 2 reenactment called the Trains and Troops event. I was ex-tactic when I found this out!!!! :) Apparently this event is held every year the first weekend in November. I definitely plan on attending again next year decked out in 40's attire. I did not bring my homemade 40's swing dress to wear, but I was wearing an 80's dress that mimicked the 40's silhouette  So that was good and exciting to look a little bit the part. :)

Troops and civilians alike walked around the museum and rode on the trains in real authentic steam engine locomotives.

Inside the museum there were various reenacting groups set up with different jeeps and period weapons/40's everyday items like radio's and wearing authentic uniforms and civilian attire.

One of the many steam engines in the museum.

Women talking about different scarves,masks, and hats made for te troops during the war.

Add caption
I really loved this picture of a woman doing her bit for the war effort to support the troops even though she is back in the USA.

They even had this period radio above playing swing music! It made me want to start dancing with my imaginary guy friends. ;)

All of the period gloves, hat, masks, and scarves ladies made during the war.

I loved all the antique luggage. It makes me happy for some reason! :)

 I did not even notice the guy standing there behind the door of this jeep when I took this. ;) That is funny.

They had uniforms, weapons, and other memorabilia for different wars, such as Vietnam, Korea, and Desert Shield Desert Storm, and World War 2.

Above you can see a uniform display for Desert Shield Desert Storm, which was occurring the year I was born and my Daddy was doing his duty overseas in that war. He was able to come home and be with my Mom when I was born, but then he had to go back right away. I am thankful for his service to his country and to the many men and women who have done the same. They all have a special place in my heart and life and I will always have the utmost respect for the military.

A Veteran above is telling these children about his service during the war. I guess I should have gone up to him and asked him about his table. I was very glad he was there telling the next generation about his life though.

There were World war 2 and even Civil War reenactors inside the museum telling about the different wars. It was fascinating to be on the other side of things as a spectator and not a reenactor. :) I loved it! But I miss being on the other side of the fence as a reenactor, next month I will be reenacting again. I can't wait!

We were able to walk on the walkway above the museum and see everything from up top. It was a cool perspective for pictures.

I talked with one of these lovely ladies from the Paper Dolls Womens Unit. I am excited to contact them and maybe start doing ladies world war 2 events. I am so so excited! I still can't believe it was by providence we happened to be in town the same weekend of the World War 2 event. I squealed with glee when I found out! :)

Last but not least, a group came to the event with a tractor trailer that they have turned into a woman's 1940's city apartment on wheels. So they had a little kitchen, bed room, bath room, and parlor all set up like in the 40's. It was pretty amazing! I loved meeting the women from the group and talking with them as well. I met Elisabeth below after she stopped me and introduced herself in the museum. She said she has been a reader for a while and recognized me from my blog. It made my day for sure! :) A shout out to you Elisabeth for being brave and starting the conversation. I definitely wanted to talk to you and your friends and I am so glad I got to. :)
Elisabeth showing her new Edwardian/pre hobble skirt she had just gotten from a friend. She was dressed in 40's attired for the reenactment though. I love her fur collared blue coat and awesome shoes!

God bless and have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Oh and a side note, fine if you don't like me anymore or don't want to read my blog because of this picture, but hey I like it. :)
